Cost of Data
- Successful bidders for license areas will be able to deduct the cost of data purchased from Petroleum Agency SA from their expenditure commitment in their first year of operation in South Africa.
- Data will be made available to potential clients using the following guidelines
- Commercial Tariff – Cost to be charged for the supply of technical data in any agreed required format based on industry acceptable norms. The rates will depend on actual time, material
and professional input to the production of the original data products. Rates will be reviewed by Management annually
- Commercial tariffs apply to potential clients, like potential permit/rights owners and companies or individuals who use the data to do an investigation or evaluation with the purpose of selling such products for financial gain. An exception to this applies to onshore data acquired prior to 1980, where the quality of such data does not warrant commercial tariffs. In such instances copy cost rates will apply.
- Geophysical logs at a flat rate of US $120 per log type or US$ 1200 per well where this data set will include all logs run in the borehole.
- Paleontology summary logs for all boreholes are offered at a flat rate of US $25 per borehole
- Borehole lithofacies logs for all boreholes are offered at a flat rate of US $120 per borehole
- Digital scanned images of processed seismic data can be purchased at US $6 per km regardless of scale.
- Where available, digital seismic (raw migration or stack) data in SEGY format is offered at a cost of US $12 per km and will include a digital scanned image of the seismic line in TIFF format.

- Copy cost – Cost to be charged for the provision of a paper copy version or digital data file based on time-and-material basis. This cost will include time and resource cost used in the reproduction thereof.
- Copy cost rates apply to existing permit holders, SA Governmental Bodies and academic institutions.
