EC-2010 - PLANNED RECONNAISSANCE SURVEY IN THE NATAL VALLEY ON THE EAST COAST OF SOUTH AFRICA
 |
| Click on the image to view a larger version | The Petroleum Agency intends to conduct a reconnaissance survey to investigate regional aspects of the geologic and tectonic development of the eastern margin of South Africa and the hydrocarbon systems of the Natal Valley.
It is inviting suitably qualified and experienced companies to bid for this opportunity.
The survey will acquire approximately 4,000 kms of multi-channel 2D reflection seismics in water depths ranging from 300m - ~5,000m and suitable equipment configurations should be considered to ensure the acquisition of optimal reflection and velocity data. In-tandem acquisition of bathymetric, magnetic, gravity and sub-bottom profiler data is considered an advantage but is not essential. (For waypoint coordinates, click here)
Due to the distance of the survey area from major centres of seismic survey activity the costs associated with mobilisation and demobilisation of the vessel are likely to be disproportionately high. The Agency is acting within tight budget constraints and preference will be given to high quality bids that are able to reduce these costs by using vessels that will be in the area already, transiting through the area or where two or more surveys could be combined to reduce such costs.
Seismic Acquisition Tender Companies are requested to submit proposals for the acquisition of this data. The requirements for the Bid are provided in the document "Instruction to Bidders"
Seismic Processing Tender Processing of this seismic data is the subject of a separate tender running in parallel to the acquisition tender. If interested, acquisition companies are invited to submit tenders for the processing of the data, both as a combined process with the acquisition and also as a separate process.
